Step Lively!

A Great New Post From Sue!  Shoes...

Think Shoes!

How does your character move? If you were about to play them in a film, how would you walk?

What are their shoes like? Examine them carefully. What colour are they? Do they fit properly or have they inherited them from somebody else? Do they have a passion for shoes or are they not really interested?

SOME IDEAS TO TRY

  1. Go shopping (preferably with your camera or it may prove expensive) and come back with five pairs of shoes. (Charity shops can be good places for inspiration).
  2. Think about the people who would own these shoes. What work do they do? What do they most want from life? Create short character biographies for each of them.
  3. Browse on the internet or in a magazine. Look at unusual pairs of shoes. Could a pair of shoes change someone’s life? Let your imagination run riot. Think magic spells and fairy tales…

See how many ideas you can develop from each pair of shoes that you notice.
